Canopy a good idea?

But of course it can be a good idea!

Haha, don't you just love a corny play on words?

Anyhow I added the canopy to my bed today out of boredom. I had to lower the mirror and I am not sure I am liking it there but I will wait before I decide to keep it or put something else there.

I really wish my camera had the ability to take wide indoor shots. Oh well.

Sonny has approved of the canopy:

(Yes those are two separate pictures...aint he adorable?)

  1. I like the canopy - maybe softening/draping it with some sheer gold material to pick up the color of your duvet...

  2. Hi Dusa, thanks for stopping by.

When I first bought the bed back in 1994 (or 95) I had fabric draped along it. It was in a bigger bedroom so it made sense. I'm not sure I will go to the expense of that until I move into more permanent housing though and since it's a smaller bedroom I wasn't even sure I would like the canopy on it.

I do like it for a change though! If I find the right fabric though, I wont rule it out. :-)

  3. I like it!! Very dramatic, but adds height and weight to the room, good choice!

  4. Hi Nice and Easy, thanks for stopping by.

I was reluctant to put the canopy on. I've been in this place since the beginning of June and thought I would be in a house again by now.

Anyhow, I've been bored and needed a change so I pulled out the canopy stiles and rails (pardon me, I don't know the exact terminology so I am borrowing from my life as a window and door sales rep and daughter of a windows and door manufacturer) and it turned out better than I had imagined.

I love to being able to change things up for free.

  5. I like it! I agree that maybe a light fabric draped around (over) it would soften the look. but do love it.

  7. Hi Ried. Thanks for stopping by.

I made a trip to Tuesday Morning to see what they had available and I spied a couple of items I hope will work. Hopefully what I found is still there in a couple of days.

I probably wont do much draping though. It's a pretty small room and I do want to be able to enjoy the big picture on the back wall. I have a thought process though. We'll see if what I am thinking will soften it up a bit without making the room feel as though it's half the size.

  8. I guess I'm in the minority: I like it better without fabric. Also think the mirror looks great hung lower. (My hub wants to hang everything high and as a shorty I of course want it low--but as it happens lower's better design-wise as well.)

  9. Howdy TexNan - Thanks for commenting!

Before a saw your comment, I had already had in my mind using some kind of something to soften it up so I found two panels for cheap. I do like it both ways, with and without.

Oh and as for the mirror...haha. I accidentally hung it very high when I moved in. I hadn't planned on being here this long so I wasn't going to bother with lowering it but when I put the canopy on, I had no choice.

Thanks again for stopping by and hope you had a fabulous weekend!
